Jimi Hendrix

There are few songs that movie me so inexplicably, so uncontrollably as if it was speaking to me from another time or life. There is a song out there, that every time i listen to it i literally shiver with anticipation for the unknown that is to come in my life. But at the same time makes me long for the deep long past of a life i never knew, or life that wasn't even my own. Its a strange, yet subtle feeling to feel like you are being pulled in two directions at the same time. Once beckoning you into the future, and one pulling you eternally, endlessly and with great promises of ages gone, into the past. That song, one of Hendrix's best, and unanimously assumed to be about the Vietnam war is of course All Along the Watchtower.

For those of you who have not heard it, well shame on you for one. But also give it an honest listen, the lyrics specifically are all metaphors for something more profound than we all really understand. It took a smoked up guitar god to transfer all that was around him into this song.

But simply, the words of the first line explain my ever growing urge to vacate my current location, not only mentally but also physically. Its part of the urge i get to travel, sometimes at a moments notice. The thrill of the unknown, the thrill of adventure. The wide open expanse of this planet ripe for the taking. Some people believe this planet it small, and the internet is making it smaller and smaller every day. But go far enough, go deep enough, travel swiftly and lightly, with only unrivaled curiosity and you will find that one place that humans have no tread in hundreds, maybe even thousands of year; or even a place that the lingering spirits of eons worth of travelers have crossed. But always remember..

"There must be some kind of way out of here,"

Hidden Fortress

Rating: 3.5
Director: Akira Kurosawa
Not his best film, nor his most entertaining,  but this film did have a lot of what i liked about Kurosawa, and a reason why i watch all of his films, even his non samurai ones. Essentially this story is about bumbling idiots who discover gold hidden in sticks. Literally they are inside tree branches and shit. So being dumb and greedy they go and look for more. They meet Toshiro Mifune's character who is mighty proud and strong with his short shorts. Suffice to say its also not Mifune's most entertaining role either, but its not his worst i've seen. So these knuckleheads go on an adventure with Mifune and his lost princess/leader to reclaim their land and set up their empire. They have to travel through enemy country to do so. Naturally the greedy bumble heads botch that very simple concept by being greedy and stupid, so Mifune has to fight and sometimes kill people to get them there safely. Ultimately though the ending is what surprised me most, since it wasn't a sudden end as some of the Japanese movies have. So a nice ending, to a respectably good movie.

First Post

After a while of not blogging and generally ignoring the internet writing scene i have returned! Last time i blogged was *shudders* LiveJournal. It was a dark time of my life i agree, but it was all the rage. I'm not exactly sure what this blog will be for or about. Most likely its gonna be for brain drippings, rants, movie/ music reviews, harebrained schemes to survive the zombies apocalypse or maybe ill put some of my creative writing on here. If you know me, feel free to comment or critique my writing. If you don't know me, friend me and then comment or critique my work. If you don't want to know me then just read my blog and continue on with your life. But this isn't 4chan, so don't be a troll and do something with your life. Peace out!

P.S. All you 4chaners please don't hack my shit. Your website has its already large part in the internet and pop culture today, while i am one simple blogger.
